Week 2 2019: Laying the Foundations of the Year

Coming to the end of Week 2 feels like an achievement, I’ve made progress on all my goals this week.

I feel like it’s the time to explain some of my goals in greater details.

Lose 2 stone in weight by July

This one’s really simple to explain. I want to be healthier, both physically and mentally. I need to have a hard goal/target to monitor this. Loosing 2 stone by July is roughly 1lb per week. Which doesn’t seem like much, but when I add up all the weeks until my target date, that’s when it will make a big difference.

Gym workouts at least 3 times a week

Another simple one, that relates to my first goal. Go to the gym and work out AT LEAST 3 times per week, Monday – Sunday. Which is a big improvement on last year, which was once every 4 months.

Be honest with my feelings to myself and others

I’m guilty of being a “yes man”, and doing things others wanted. This year I want to be honest and give myself and others a chance to put our cases forward for any given activity and scenario.

Don’t worry about what I can’t control

I often overthink things which triggers my anxiety and I can be held back by it. This year I’m trying not to let the little bitty stuff get me down and hold me back.

Instead of “I know”, say “you’re right”

Be more positive. I think I got this as a LPT on readit years ago. If someone tells or shows your something that you are already aware of, say “you’re right” it conveys the same meaning and you don’t make the other person feel like they have wasted their time or effort.

Instead of “seen it”, say “thank you”

As as above really.

This Week’s Progress

Weight-loss – I’ve lost 3lb. 25 to go.

Gym attendance – I’ve been 6 times, I’m finding really early in the morning is working great for me. That’s 2 weeks on the bounce that I’ve been 6 times in 7 days.

PMA – all going strong at the moment.

Week 1 2019: Themes and Goals for the Year

2017 was a very rough year for me, I had personal, financial and professional breakdowns, which started on 4th January 2017 when I got let go from a job I truly loved. 2017 was trying to find a base that I can build from. 2018 was all about building foundations and stabilising my life. I did that by joining a company in December 2017 and I’m still there now.

Over the past week I’ve been thinking about what I can do this year to improve myself and my life, with the first week of 2019 nearly over, its time to set some goals and themes for the year. The aim is to build habits that will have a positive impact on myself and others.

The reason for publishing them here is to hold myself accountable. At the end of the year I can look back and tick each and everyone of them off, or not, as the case may be.

My goals and themes for 2019 are:

• Lose 2 stone in weight by July, keep it off (that’s 28 lbs or 12.7 Kg)

• Gym workouts at least 3 times a week

• Be honest with my feelings to myself and others

• Don’t worry about what I can’t control

• Instead of “I know”, say “you’re right”

• Instead of “seen it”, say “thank you”

I’ll report back next week with how I’m getting on.
